Little Falls sits at the junction of US Route 202, Maine Route 4, and Route 237, where the Presumpscot River forms the boundary between Gorham and South Windham. This was once a bustling mill village with shops and bus service to Portland. Today, the community retains its crossroads character: the Little Falls Recreation Area offers playing fields and picnic facilities, and the Great Falls Elementary School on Justice Way serves roughly 500 students from the eastern part of Gorham.
The Presumpscot River Trail connects through this area, linking Shaw Park to the south with the Mountain Division Trail and Gambo Preserve to the north. The historic Gambo Dam and the ruins of Maine’s first gunpowder mill — the Oriental Powder Mill, which supplied the Union Army during the Civil War — are accessible from trails in this corridor.
Little Falls borders South Windham across the Presumpscot River and connects to Westbrook via Route 202 heading east. Many residents commute to Portland through Westbrook or south through Gorham Village to the Maine Turnpike via Route 25.
