South Windham is a census-designated place in the Town of Windham, centered along US Route 202 and the Presumpscot River. The village has deep industrial roots — the South Windham Village Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, includes the former Windham Manufacturing Company textile mill and the Mallison Falls hydroelectric dam.
