What Invisalign Actually Does

The trade-off is that you have to actually wear them, 20 to 22 hours a day, for the treatment to work on schedule.
Is Invisalign Right for What You Want Fixed?
Invisalign handles most of what traditional braces handle. Mild to moderate crowding. Spacing and gaps. Overbite, underbite, and crossbite within typical ranges. Yes, you will, and most colleagues will not realize the treatment is happening unless you tell them.
For teens, the conversation is different. Compliance is the variable that matters most: aligners only work if they are worn. We talk through that openly with the teen and the parents at the first visit. Some teens are great candidates for clear aligners; others are better served by traditional braces, which do their work whether the patient is enthusiastic or not.

Treatment + retention
Once the aligner series is designed and shipped, you come in every six to eight weeks for a check-in. We make sure the teeth are tracking the way the plan expected, and we adjust if anything has shifted. The end of active treatment is not the end of the work, though. Without retainers, teeth will drift back over the next year or two. We fit you for retainers and we explain the schedule, because the difference between a result that holds for decades and one that fades is whether the retention phase is taken seriously.
