South Gorham borders Scarborough to the south and east and is close to the planned Gorham Connector highway corridor that would link Route 114 near Gorham Village to the Maine Mall area of South Portland. Route 22 connects South Gorham directly to the Scarborough commercial corridor, and many residents commute to Portland, South Portland, or the Maine Turnpike via these routes.
The Stroudwater River flows through portions of South Gorham, and conservation areas and woodland buffers give this part of town a more rural character than Gorham Village or the northern neighborhoods.
